Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood
Have your say on how we can improve the Annette Road area for all
Our public engagement on the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood ran from Monday, 8 July to Sunday, 18 August 2024
We are now working to collate the responses we have received from local residents, groups and stakeholders to decide on the proposals we will develop and bring forward to public consultation.
As part of our efforts to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier borough we want to create a liveable neighbourhood in the Annette Road area.
The liveable neighbourhood will create pleasant and animated streets, where communities can come together to spend time with their neighbours, support local shops and children can play and travel safely (read more about liveable neighbourhoods here).
With more greening including plants and trees, seating for neighbours and reduced traffic volumes, the liveable neighbourhood will transform streets across the scheme area.
On this page you can find out how you can give us your ideas for improving streets and public spaces in the area, by:
- leaving a comment on our interactive map
- commenting on our initial ideas by completing our survey
- coming to one of our public events
We are listening to feedback from local people and groups, and we are looking to prioritise the following improvements:
- creating safe streets for children to travel to school and areas for play
- reducing through-traffic, reducing road danger and improving air quality
- supporting local businesses to thrive
The liveable neighbourhood will also work to:
- create greener and more pleasant streets
- make it easier and safer to walk, wheel and cycle
- bring the community together
About the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood
The Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood is the area around Annette Road that is between Seven Sisters Road, Hornsey Road and Holloway Road, and includes the Harvist Estate. The project area can be seen on the map below.

Get involved - interactive map
We are engaging with the community to get your input into the design phase. Please click this link to view our interactive map tool (also found in the tabs at the bottom of this page) to provide us with your comments and ideas for location-specific street improvements and improved public realm that we might make as part of this scheme.
We will collate your responses and they will inform the process of preparing final designs. We will then hold a formal public consultation before we implement any changes.
Some initial ideas for the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood
We have received feedback from local residents on the area, and have conducted our own monitoring of traffic in and around the area, and we've started work on some ideas for potential improvements which could be made. In addition to seeking your comments about the area more generally using the interactive map tool, we are also seeking your feedback on these initial ideas to give us an indication of the type of improvement you would like to see in the area. Read on for more information.
You have told us that:
- you would like to see pavements improved with more space created for people walking, wheeling and with buggies and mobility aids
- you want to see more pleasant, green public spaces and more places to stop and rest
- streets should be made safer with slower traffic and fewer vehicles
- it should be easier for people cycling in the area
Taking the above as a starting point, some measures to create a greener, healthier, more welcoming area could include:
- 1: removing through-traffic from Jackson Road
- 2: reducing through-traffic on Loraine Road, Shelburne Road and Caedmon Road
- 3: removing Morrisons traffic from Arthur Road
- 4: improving the Tollington Road crossing to improve North-South cycling links and routes to Pakeman School
- 5: improving footways at side roads
- 6: improving pedestrian access to and from the Harvist Estate
For more details, please see the links above and on the right of this page, and please provide us with your comments by filling in the survey at the bottom of this page.

Once the consultation period is completed, we will then take a decision on what improvements are delivered as part of the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood.
