Consultation has concluded
Islington Council is launching round two of the Islington Greener Together programme from Mon 26 Feb 2024 for eight weeks to help create more publicly accessible green spaces in the borough.
We are inviting residents, businesses and community groups, once they have support from their neighbours, to submit their idea for a publicly accessible green area in their neighbourhood. Successful ideas will be built by the council and the local community will nurture and maintain them going forward.
It’s a great opportunity to improve your local environment and socialise with your neighbours while improving your mental and physical health through gardening. You don’t need to be an expert gardener, you just need to be enthusiastic and committed to looking after your new green space with your local community and residents. You will be automatically enrolled as a Champion with our partner Groundwork who will provide the training and information you need to maintain the area and keep your plants growing.
The sorts of ideas that we are looking to build on housing estates and highways land are;
Pocket parks and parklets
Tree planting
Rain gardens
Flower beds and tree pits
So why not apply today?
