The council is committed to improving public transport services. We also have a proposal to improve bus services at the eastern part of St Paul's Road near the junction with Essex Road/ Newington Green Road. Details of this can be found on the St Paul's Road east section link on the Islington Let's Talk web page.
Overall, our proposals are aimed at enhancing bus reliability by:
Extending bus lane hours: This will prevent buses from getting held up behind other vehicles in the bus lane during off-peak times when they are waiting to clear the traffic lights at Highbury Corner.
Introducing a new bus lane: This will provide a more direct route for buses to the bus stop, bypassing queueing traffic from the signalised junction with Essex Road. This will save time for bus journeys.
