Your Junction ward councillors, Cllr Janet Burgess, Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz and Cllr Sheila Chapman, have teamed up with Groundwork to transform the old ball court at Bovingdon Close estate into an attractive community space with play equipment, planting and space for community gardening.

We want to ensure the improvements meet the needs and priorities of the community. With your help we can create an attractive space for you and your neighbours to enjoy. The project will be fully-funded via Thriving Neighbourhoods and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding.

Update

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are pleased to inform you that we now have a design for this space, based on the feedback you gave us during the consultation. The new space will include more greenery, biodiverse planting and seating. It will also have a natural boundary between the food growing area and play area. Please click this link to view the new design.

The key features of the design include:

Food Growing Garden Area

  • New surfacing, a raised planter with seating, a food growing bed, in-ground planting, stone boulders, a storage shed, compost bins and a bench.

Play Area

  • New colourful safety surfacing, colourful play mounds and tunnel, a trampoline, a basket swing, a mural, a raised planter with seating, in-ground planting and stone boulders.

Upcoming Events

We are holding an Outdoor Community Gardening event on Wednesday 21 August 2024 at 3.30 pm - 6.30pm. The event will take place in the middle of the estate.

The event will provide an opportunity to review, and provide feedback on, the new designs. We will also share some gardening tips, including advice on what to plant during the growing season.

Activities will include:

  • Family-friendly activities;
  • Gardening activities; and
  • An opportunity to speak to a Landscape Architect about the new designs.

If you would like to provide feedback on the new design, please come along to the event and/or fill in the survey sent to your home address.
