We are consulting on proposals to reduce the number of places available for reception class admission at Hanover, Hargrave Park and Vittoria Primary schools and Year 7 places at Beacon High Secondary school.
This is because our latest evidence on Islington’s school age population indicates a year-on-year reduction due to falling births across the local area that are likely to remain an ongoing trend. This is also a feature in many inner-London authorities.
We are not proposing any other changes to admission arrangements for Islington community schools. We have clarified the process for delaying and deferring admission to reception class for children reaching compulsory school age, as well as the process for requesting that a child is placed out of chronological age group.
