Consultation has concluded
We want to hear from local residents, boaters, community groups, businesses and anyone who uses Regent’s Canal and the surrounding area about how you think the Eco Mooring Zone trial is going and how we can make the area better. The survey is part of the trial evaluation process and will help to shape the future of Eco Mooring Zone.
Background
Between autumn 2020 and autumn 2021, Islington Council together with Canal and River Trust introduced an Eco Mooring Zone trial on the Islington’s section of the Regent’s canal to make the area cleaner, greener and healthier for all.
Electric charging points were installed to eliminate the noise and fumes from diesel generators and smoke from solid fuels, reducing pollution impacts on residents living near the canal and boaters themselves. It is also helping us to reduce carbon emissions and meet our ambitious Net Zero Carbon 2030 targets.
During the trial there has been encouragement for boaters mooring in the zone to move from burning solid fuels to using electricity for their heating, hot water and cooking.
Below are two surveys. You only need to fill in one of them. The surveys have identical questions, apart from some additional questions for boaters about their experiences of mooring in the Eco Mooring Zone. The survey takes less than 5 minutes.
