Reinstate 2022 prices for EV parking permits

In 2022, Islington Council charged £50 for annual EV parking permits.
The new 2024 price structure for the same vehicle has increased this cost significantly to £170 for EVs.

This drastic price hike discourages residents from owning electric vehicles, hindering progress towards a cleaner environment.
The increased cost burden contradicts the council's potential goals of promoting sustainable transportation.

Please can Islington Council reflect on the unfair increase in EV parking permit prices andreturn to the previous, more affordable structure.

Hello Dario,                                                                                                Thanks for taking the time to share your story.                              In line with our mission to make a greener, healthier Islington for all, we’re encouraging a shift to more active travel methods such as walking, cycling and public transport. While the environmental damage caused by EVs is less than that of petrol and diesel vehicles, they still contribute to pollution during manufacturing. We also have the lowest level of car ownership in London – only 29% of households have access to a car.                                                                                            Furthermore, electric vehicles, like petrol vehicles, contribute to road danger and take up road and parking space that could otherwise be used for other purposes, such as additional greenery and new green spaces that people can enjoy.
