We are committed to improving our air quality by making our roads greener and healthier. To help achieve this goal and support the shift to low emission vehicles for essential journeys, we have installed over 240 lamp column charging points across the borough.
Replacing petrol and diesel vehicles with Electric Vehicles (EV) will help to improve air quality by reducing harmful emissions such as nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide.
We are now proposing to rollout a further 100 electric vehicle charging points in lamp columns across the borough by March 2024. All the proposed charge points are located on roads where resident requests have been received.
Therefore, between 28 July - 25 August we are offering you a chance to have your say on the proposals and to influence the development of EV charging infrastructure in the borough.
How we identified the proposed charging locations
The process we follow depends on the network operator and type of charging point. However, when investigating locations for new charging points, we have considered a wide range of matters such as:
parking restrictions
footway clearance widths
heritage restrictions
local demand
