Proposed changes to parking on Northchurch Road and Southgate Road

Following consultation, this project has now been implemented.

About the proposed parking changes

In April 2023, we consulted residents and local businesses on proposals to make the area around the Northchurch Road and Southgate Road junction safer, greener, and more welcoming.

We're still reviewing your feedback and are working on these proposals, and we hope to be in touch soon with further details about our plans. In the meantime, we've listened to your comments about parking in the area and are proposing some changes to the parking layout, which we'd like to hear your feedback on.

We're proposing the following:

• creating a loading bay outside the De Beauvoir Arms pub on Southgate Road, instead of on Northchurch Road as we initially proposed.
• introducing three new, residents permit and pay by phone, parking spaces on Southgate Road
• converting the two unused doctors parking spaces:
  1. outside the old Surgery/Medical Centre at 97 Southgate Road, this will become a residents permit and pay by phone parking space.
  2. and the unused parking space outside 125 Southgate Road will become residents parking only.
• converting the existing residents parking bay on the north side of Northchurch Road so that it can house two relocated Bikehangars.
• extending double yellow lines approximately 13 metres on Northchurch Road near the junction with Southgate Road.
