This consultation has concluded please see outcomes below:
Removal and relocation of recycling sites: Existing site near Hall Street will be removed and relocated to the proposed new location near the cycle storage and within the estate.
Additional recycling bins: The recycling area will have 12 recycling bins to ensure there is enough room for all residents to recycle as much as possible. The area will also including accessible design bins for residents with disabilities.
Design and Accessibility: The recycling area will have new bin enclosures for all bins and include accessible design bins for residents with disabilities.
Survey Results
Survey responses indicate that estate residents would like to have more recycling bins made available on their estate. Some residents raised concerns over the proposed location and suggested current recycling location is expanded instead. This option was already considered however, it poses a risk to the large trees and their roots located nearby in the front garden.
About the project
Islington Council is committed to making recycling as easy and convenient as possible. We think the current recycling bins on Peregrine House Estate aren’t enough and do not make it easy for people who live on the estate to recycle as much as possible. Following a number of visits with your caretakers and housing officers, we developed a proposal for improving recycling facilities on the estate that includes:
an increased number of recycling bins to ensure residents can recycle as much as possible
installation of new recycling bin enclosures to improve the look of the recycling area
removal of the recycling area near Hall Street. This area is often used as a place to dump bags of rubbish and unwanted items due to its location near the main road
