Review of access guides to local venues
We are currently reviewing our access guides offer for Islington to best respond to residents’ needs.
Access guides are online resources that provide information about a range of accessibility features of local venues, including supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cafés, gyms, community venues and public buildings.
They often include details around step-free access, accessible toilets, parking, seating, hearing support systems, quiet operating hours, and more. Such accessibility information allows residents, and in particular disabled, Blind and Partially Sighted, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and neurodiverse residents as well as people with long-term health conditions, to prepare for journeys to and throughout the venues that they visit.
Our ‘clickability’ data confirms that 9,000 individual users accessed guides of Islington venues between August 2023 and August 2024 via our provider’s website, which evidences what an important resource they are to Islington’s residents and visitors.
Visit our accessibility web page for more information, including the searchable venue access guide AccessAble.

We have also reached out to organisations that support disabled people in Islington to get their thoughts too.
