Supporting rough sleepers
Over the holiday period the council’s commissioned service St Mungo’s will be providing Outreach support to people sleeping rough in Islington, offering them support around their accommodation and other needs.
Although rough sleeping has increased across the UK, Islington remains one of the lowest boroughs for people sleeping rough in central London, this is due to the dedication of the teams working together and the council’s ambition in supporting people away from rough sleeping.
As we head into the colder months, we will be providing emergency winter shelter when temperature drops below zero Celsius. When severe weather is forecast, Our outreach teams increase their shifts to offer support to those rough sleeping on the street. We will continue to offer support to prevent people from returning to the streets.
If you are concerned about someone who is sleeping rough on the streets, call StreetLink on 0300 500 0914 or visit the StreetLink website
