Consultation has concluded

Update on the redevelopment of Toffee Park and Radnor Street Gardens

The public consultation has now closed. The scheme has received planning approval and the project will move to the delivery phase soon, with the aim to start the construction phase in February/March 2025.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide their thoughts and feedback during the consultation.

The public engagements have been well attended, and many local people have fed back on our proposals.

Radnor Street Gardens Skate Park

As a result of the feedback received online and at the in-person consultation event, the council has decided to withdraw the skatepark from the project proposals.

While the Family Hub and improvements to adventure playground and MUGA were well received, it was very clear that local people were not supportive of the proposed skate park in Radnor Street Gardens.

Local people shared their concerns about noise and the potential for the skatepark to attract anti-social behaviour. A lot of people shared that they really value this small area of green space where they can be outdoors, connect with nature, play, rest, and exercise.

The new Family Hub and the improvements to adventure playground and MUGA will proceed in line with the the planning-approved proposals.

Our proposals

Our proposals for Toffee Park will include:

A new Islington South Family Hub to offer support for local families with children of ages 0-19 (and up to 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). The existing building will be fully refurbished, with extensions added to maximise the internal space.

• A revitalised Toffee Park Adventure Playground, with new inside space merged under one roof with the new Family Hub. The existing Adventure Playground cabin will be removed, freeing up space for external play.

• A refurbished multi-use games area (MUGA), which will allow better public use and access.
