We are currently reviewing our access guides offer for Islington to best respond to residents’ needs.
Access guides are online resources that provide information about a range of accessibility featuresof local venues, including supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cafés, gyms, community venues and public buildings.
They often include details around step-free access, accessible toilets, parking, seating, hearing support systems, quiet operatinghours, and more. Such accessibility information allows residents, and in particular disabled, Blind and Partially Sighted, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and neurodiverse residents as well as people with long-term health conditions, to prepare for journeys to and throughout the venues that they visit.
Our ‘clickability’ data confirms that 9,000 individual users accessed guides of Islington venues between August 2023 and August 2024 via our provider’s website, which evidences what an important resource they are to Islington’s residents and visitors.
We want to improve our access guides and update the list of venues to better serve our community. We run a survey on how we can improve the access guides offer and reached out to organisations that support disabled people in Islington to get their thoughts, too.
The survey closed on Sunday 23 February.
We appreciate your time and thank you for your contribution.
What happens next?
We will review all responses and publish the outcome on this page in autumn 2025.
